A warm thank you to all who worked and all who supported our annual Shrove Tuesday supper. Well done! We had 173 paying customers, lots of helpers, both Parishioners and from First Springhill Group. The ACW effort was also a success and they thank folks for aid received as well !

We welcome all who are worshipping with us this holy Lenten season. St Peter's is a specifically Prayer Book Parish theologically as well as liturgically. What this means is that traditional liturgy (services) are the worshipping expression of normative Anglican, (i.e., of the Anglican Communion) belief. We hope that you find your time in our midst spiritually refreshing and beneficial.

Vestry Meeting NEWS: Vestry of Feb 13 appointed Willard Fram as Parish treasurer and Brenda Smith as Vestry Clerk. Both persons have previously served faithfully for years in these positions. Vestry welcomed two new members; Ria Neish and Anne Klinck. After a time of sharing relating to each person’s connection to St Peter’s the treasurer presented his report. The report was sobering. Expenses exceeded income by roughly $2,000.00 in January. The treasurer had to “borrow’ funds from the memorial account – funds which must be replaced. Specific plans for Natural Church Development (NCD) survey Sunday were finalized. Prolonged discussion of the condition, status and future of the Rectory building came next. Potential repairs, the difficulty in renting and finding appropriate tenants and the long-term usefulness of having a rectory were all discussed. It was decided to reaffirm our “no-pets” policy and to limit occupancy to five persons maximum. {A lease was signed on Tuesday Feb 15th} It was also decided to hire a carpentry firm (King Construction) to do a professional assessment of the state of the building in March. To pay for this, special envelopes are available at the rear of the church to raise the estimated $500.00 this will cost. It was further decided to have our annual Shrove Tuesday Supper on March 8 – Mary, Frankie and Brenda are to be the organizing committee. Ria Neish gave an overview of her upcoming Lenten “Lectio” talks scheduled for Lent’s Sunday afternoons at 4 p.m. Fr Hebb stressed the uniqueness of Ria’s talks as well as the opportunity presented by the Adult St Michael’s Conference to be held at St Peter’s April 8 and 9th. Fr Hebb reported that he has secured clerical coverage for all 14 Sundays of his upcoming Sabbatical Leave.

Saint Michael’s Youth Conference dates 2011: August 23-27th inclusive.

New service schedule, servers’ schedule, readers’ rota and sidemen’s schedules are all posted on the Parish Website AND have been mailed out with the Lenten Parish Broadside Newsletter!

Adult Saint Michael’s Conference hosted by St Peter’s (here) Friday and Saturday April 8 & 9, 2011- See pamphlet at the rear of St Peter’s. Events will commence with EP at 5 p.m. A full supper meal, breakfast and a light lunch will be provided. Outside volunteers are doing the breakfast and aiding with the lunchtime sandwiches [Hebb & Alliston are making soup and chilli). Help is needed in serving lunch – Hebb does the last morning talk. I ask that the parish look after the supper meal 15-20 people tops. Those attending from outside the Parish will be charged a representative fee of $25.00 for meals. Fr Hebb is the Registrar for the event. It is also desirable for Billets to be offered. Please think about billeting someone – and speak to Fr Hebb!
