E:Bulletin: August 8, 2010 Trinity X

Services this Week: Parish of St Peter, August 9-15, 2010

August 11 midweek : Eve of the commemoration of Charles Inglis, 7 p.m.
first Anglican bishop in Canada
August 15 Trinity XI Holy Communion at St Peter’s 8 & 11 a.m.

Today’s bulletin is given by the Hebb Family to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for a successful outcome to Fr Hebb’s eye surgery.

We welcome all who are worshipping with us this summer. St Peter's is a specifically Prayer Book Parish theologically as well as liturgically. What this means is that traditional liturgy (services) are the worshipping expression of normative Anglican, (i.e., of the Anglican Communion) belief. We hope that you find your time in our midst spiritually refreshing and beneficial.

Church Exterior Restoration Fund: The church building exterior has been painted this past week.

Parish hall is booked for advance election polls on Sept 17 and 20 Hall is booked, of course, for election day, September 27th!

Vestry News: At our last vestry meeting (May 30) several issues were raised and actions taken. Archdeacon of Fredericton, Pat Drummond attended and gave a half hour presentation concerning the Nicodemus Project and various other diocesan initiatives associated with Parish and diocesan renewal. Vestry has expressed interest in doing a Parish self-assessment using the Natural Church Development survey device. The treasurer’s report revealed revenues falling short of expenditures in the current account. Funds have continued to flow into the Restoration Fund since Easter but whatever the expense of the bell tower repair, estimated, by us, at between $5,000.00 and $7,500.00 - we do NOT have payment funds on hand! Parishioners are asked to keep both these facts in mind as the summer commences! A letter of thanks will be sent to Rainsford Contractors - for foregoing ANY fee for last winter’s snow plowing work! Two parishioners attended the Bishop’s Dinner in early May. As for the photo projected reported last month, vestry agreed to their half share of the costs which will run between $400.00 and $450.00. [As this was an atypical, non-budgeted expense, Fr Hebb asked folks to recall this extra expense at offering time] Once completed, the five photos will be hung in the Parish hall. As for the rectory, the present tenants will be leaving at the end of June and vestry agreed to follow-up on an expression of interest from a potential renter. Vestry also passed a motion increasing the monthly rental fee to $1,100.00 Regarding the Church, Vestry passed a motion accepting certo-pro painters estimate for scraping and painting the church exterior at $11,500.00 Vestry had previously decided to only accept estimates from professional, reputable and known professional painting firms. Fr Hebb reported on provisions for parish pastoral coverage during his sick leave and also reminded everyone of this summer’s upcoming St Michael’s Youth Conference August 23-28

The Rectory has been rented to new tenants as of August 1, 2010.

Saint Michael’s Youth Conference August 23-28 is fast approaching. Please pray for this major youth initiative of our Parish and encourage our many young people to consider attending. Financial assistance is available to any who may require it!

Needed: Church Cleaners: If you look at the schedule on the Parish website you will notice that we are missing church cleaners. Thankfully 2 persons volunteered to cover August and one stepped forward for October. All that is left is November and December – act soon or you might miss out!

Upcoming Evensongs at King’s Landing: September 5 & 19th at 3 p.m. – all welcome!
