E - Bulletin: August 23, 2009 Trinity XI

Services this Week: Parish of St Peter, Fredericton, N. B.

Aug 26 midweek cancelled Rector at ST Mike’s Youth Conference
Aug 30 TRINITY XII Holy Communion 8 & 11 a.m.

Sunday School Registration Sunday Sept 13 12 noon – A new approach - distractions for the children will be provided. Needed another Sunday School teacher – 2 people could team-teach the eldest class!

We welcome all who are worshipping with us during this Trinity season. St Peter's is a specifically Prayer Book Parish theologically as well as liturgically. What this means is that traditional liturgy (services) are the worshipping expression of normative Anglican, (i.e., of the Anglican Communion) belief. We hope that you find your time in our midst spiritually refreshing and beneficial.

St Michael’s Youth Camp, Bouchtouche NB August 24 to 29 inclusive. Youth 13 to 19 yrs of age are eligible to attend: Check out the website at: http://myweb.dal.ca/sesteven/smyc/smyc/www.smyc.ca

The Fredericton Food bank: The Food Bank asks for a focus on ‘meal in a can’ items such as canned stews, canned beans or canned pasta.

Bible Word Scramble : euocnms - see readings on reverse. Last week's answer: concubines 1Kings 1:13

Holy Trinity Lower St Mary’s Annual Evensong Sunday Sept 13 3 p.m. Fr A Kwaw officiating. Refreshments to follow. All welcome!

Back to Church Sunday (scheduled for October 18) will be held again this fall. Please begin thinking and praying about this initiative!

Confirmation at St Peter’s is Sunday November 8th. Please plan to attend this crucial event in the life of our Parish and show your support for our young people by your prayers and bodily presence!

Needed: As a typist has graciously stepped forward to type the parish mailing list and data base into Word 2007, what the Parish needs now is another Sunday School Teacher. Fr Hebb taught the eldest class all last year and called it a pre-confirmation class. Now it is time for a new lay person to step forward and help share the task of educating our children.

A Message from YOUR Vestry: St. Peter’s Contributions: Here at St Peter’s, as elsewhere, there is the need to increase our weekly giving so as to remain economically viable. To that end, Vestry members have accepted the challenge and each member has agreed to increase their personal weekly giving by 10%. We would invite and encourage you to join us in this undertaking. St. Peter’s has played a central role in the lives of parishioners for more than 170 years. Our ability to continue with our joint Ministry hinges on our capacity to meet mounting operating expenses and a growing capital budget. Thank you for your consideration of this important request and please feel free to discuss this with the Wardens; Bob Matthews and Mary Christie, any Vestry member or Fr. Hebb. To change your e-offering pick up the form at the rear or download it from this link: http://anglican.nb.ca/synod/finance/e_offering/e_offering_changes.pdf

Breaking Vestry News:

On Sunday June 21 (Father’s Day) your vestry met to consider Parish business. Although some progress has been noted with certain individuals embracing the vestry’s 10% challenge, the Parish still faces fiscal challenges. Vestry wishes to point out that last winter’s church fuel bill stands at $2,937.21 and last winter’s snow removal bill remains at $2,779.80 as of the end of May 2009.

Note: no servers’ schedule will be issued for the months of July and August. Serving will be on a first come, first serving basis.

Last month (July 6-10) everyone should have received a letter from the Rector and Wardens concerning our upcoming Church Exterior Capital Fund Campaign (as well as a service schedule for the summer and autumn). Thankfully, donations have already begun to come in! Please plan your support now!
