Trinity 9, July 28, 2013


Upcoming Worship Services and Events at the Parish of St Peter, Fredericton.

 July 30             HC at Shannex's, Governor Hall      10:30 a.m.

August 4          Tenth Sunday after Trinity Holy Communion   8 and 11a.m

We welcome all who are worshipping with us this Trinity Season. St Peter's is a specifically Prayer Book Parish theologically as well as liturgically. What this means is that traditional liturgy (services) are the worshipping expression of normative Anglican, (i.e., of the Anglican Communion) belief. We hope that you find your time in our midst spiritually refreshing and beneficial. We also pray that you might  find time in your busy life to return!
Celebrating 175 Years: There will be a special anniversary service with Archbishop Miller on Sunday Nov., 24th. 11 a.m. There will be a special catered Parish Banquet on Sat, Oct 26 …..dinner will be $25 per person with entertainment and the theme will be the 175th anniversary of St Peters. As we are limiting tickets sales to 75 persons and everyone has to purchase a ticket, even Fr Hebb, it may be advisable to speak for your ticket NOW. Do not delay assuming tickets will be left over
          A Container to help defray initial Banquet costs is set up at the rear - make a contribution if you can! Contributions towards a Silent Auction to be held at the 175th Banquet are solicited: contact Bob Matthews at 470-3071 with ideas and items and information.
175th Year Treasures: A sign-up sheet is at the rear to take orders for 175th year items: St Peter's "Sun Catchers" - $10.00 each, please indicate which style! (we have 50 of each style); packets of 3  note cards with envelopes $5.00 per pack of three and bookmarks $1.00 each.
     Financial Assistance with going to summer church camps is being offered again this year at St Peter's - please speak with Fr Hebb ! St Mike's Youth Conference  August 19 -24 inclusive: Cost $250.00 The Hebb's are going. Registration forms are at the rear.
Summer flowers - if you have summer flowers to offer for the beautification of God's House please speak with Maria Matthews or call 459-4552
Music at the Cathedral series Fridays 12:10 - 12:50/ /Aug 2 guitar and flute perform Tango!

Veteran # 51: Cpt C Rainsford will be honoured with a special gravesite plaque from Ontario as part of the War of 1812-14 commemorations - an event will be scheduled for early autumn - stay tuned.
            Sunday School Fall 2013: The SS teachers and Fr Hebb have decided to return to the previous SS time of 10 a.m. to 11:15 for weekly SS classes. Sunday School will commence with a group worship and sing-a-long followed by class. Due to a critical teacher shortage, one (1) children's class can be offered and Fr Hebb will commence  Confirmation class for those 10 yrs old. The class will run weekly from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the expectation that the youth will normally join worship at 11 a.m. Confirmation classes will run til April and resume next Sept - in 2014. A confirmation date in late autumn 2014 will be sought from the Bishop.

There will be an open house this Sunday afternoon, July 14th at Christ Church Maugerville (#1381 Hwy 105 ) 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. . Please come to see this historic church, listen to one of the first pipe organs brought to New Brunswick and learn the history of the first incorporated and first consecrated Anglican Church in New Brunswick in conjunction with an Open House, 4:00 – 6:00 pm  Elijah Miles Home, 1219 Hwy 105 (historic Loyalist home – he was on the first Vestry of Christ Church – Maugerville).

As for the catered Parish Banquet,  a committee has set a date of Sat, Oct 26 …..dinner will be $25 per person with entertainment and the theme will be the  175 anniversary of St Peters. Please speak to Mary Christie, Frankie Ashfield, Nancy Perry, Audrey Kelly or Larry Corscadden, or Rev Hebb to join in the fun of planning this great evening. It is proposed to limit tickets sales to 75 persons and everyone has to purchase a ticket, even Fr Hebb!

There will be a Strawberry Festival at St. John’s Anglican Church, 75 Main Street , on Thursday, July 11th : 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Cost: per person - $10, ages 6 to 12 -$5, 6 and under free, Menu: Ham, Homemade Baked Beans, Salads, Rolls, Tea & Coffee and of course ... our Strawberry Shortcake!
