Welcome to St Peter’s on this Back to Church Sunday, November 27.th We welcome all who are worshipping with us on this first Sunday of the Advent season. St Peter's is a specifically Prayer Book Parish theologically as well as liturgically. What this means is that traditional liturgy (services) are the worshipping expression of normative Anglican, (i.e., of the Anglican Communion) belief. We hope that you find your time in our midst spiritually refreshing and beneficial.

Confirmation date Sunday Dec 4 11 a.m. = Bishop Miller followed by congregational Pot luck meal. Please plan to attend and show your support for the seven young persons to be confirmed and share in the event.

Vestry News: Ongoing discussion included the subject of rectory maintenance costs versus income generated by rentals and it was determined that a comparison of same for the past ten years would be a good study document. At this meeting we also learned that, as a Parish, we have been unable to make any payments into the diocese yet this year – we owe roughly $13,500.00 Next Vestry Mtg Dec 11 12:35 p.m.

ACW News: Our ACW supports Grace House an overnight shelter for women with both $ and newly knitted hats and gloves. On Nov 27 & Dec 4 a tote will be under the entryway table to receive items such as toiletries, hair care, new or reusable clothing and non-perishables such as coffee, tea, canned goods and paper products.

St Peter’s Choir will sing at Farraline Place Wed Dec 14, 7:30 [and Pine Grove Nursing home Dec 18 at 3 p.m.] Small ‘bingo prize’ items can be given in the basket on the cupboard in the church entryway on Dec 4 and 11th for Farraline home residents. Our ACW also annually supports the ACW run Farraline home monetarily

Victorian Tea & House Tours Dec 11 6 -8 p.m. Stanley: 3 historic house tours: 6 -7 p.m. followed by a reception and silent auction in Church hall: 7-8 p.m. Tickets $10.00 by calling 367-2013 or 367-2887

New sign-up sheets for Altar Guild 2012 and Church Cleaning 2012 are at the rear.

A sign-up sheet for contributions to the ACW catering to the Rug Hooking Guild pre-Christmas gathering on Wednesday, Dec 14 is also at the rear. Donations and casseroles are needed! Please help out.

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes return no later than Nov 20th

Vestry News: Vestry reviewed the start-up and initial status of the Parish’s three NCD initiated programs that is; the new Sunday school timing arrangement, the ad hoc visiting committee and the outreach teaching (Parables) session. Ongoing discussion included the subject of rectory maintenance costs versus income generated by rentals and it was determined that a comparison of same for the past ten years would be a good study document. An update was also received on preparations for our application for National Historic Site recognition. There was discussion of the Parish’s Cemetery Fund which has built up to a sizeable amount over the centuries. The Rector and treasurer reminded Vestry that we are legally and morally bound to use only the interest from that fund and that exclusively towards the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery proper – it cannot be used to repair the church building or to pay any other operating bills! Much discussion was held concerning Turkey Supper preparations and the sizeable workforce required. Ongoing discussion included the subject of rectory maintenance costs versus income generated by rentals and it was determined that a comparison of same for the past ten years would be a good study document.
