Trinity 14, September 1, 2013


Upcoming Worship Services and Events at the Parish of St Peter, Fredericton.

 

Sept. 4                                             midweek                                  7 p.m.

We welcome all who are worshipping with us this Trinity Season. St Peter's is a specifically Prayer Book Parish theologically as well as liturgically. What this means is that traditional liturgy (services) are the worshipping expression of normative Anglican, (i.e., of the Anglican Communion) belief. We hope that you find your time in our midst spiritually refreshing and beneficial. We also pray that you might  find time in your busy life to return!

Celebrating 175 Years: There will be a special anniversary service with Archbishop Miller on Sunday Nov., 24th. 11 a.m. There will be a catered Parish Banquet on Sat, Oct 26 …..dinner will be $25 per person with entertainment and the theme will be the 175th anniversary of St Peters. Ticket sales are limited to 75 persons and everyone has to purchase a ticket, even Fr Hebb,  58 are already spoken for so it may be advisable to speak for your ticket NOW

A Container to help defray initial Banquet costs is set up at the rear - make a contribution if you can!

Contributions towards a Silent Auction to be held at the 175th Banquet are solicited: contact Bob Matthews at 470-3071 with ideas and items and information.

175th Year Treasures: A sign-up sheet is at the rear to take orders for 175th year items: St Peter's "Sun Catchers" - $10.00 each, please indicate which style! (we have 50 of each style); packets of 3  note cards with envelopes $5.00 per pack of three and bookmarks $1.00 each.

Summer flowers - if you have summer flowers to offer for the beautification of God's House please speak with Maria Matthews or call 459-4552  = also check out our fine memorial garden at the rear of the church - Wilfred A's work has made it a welcome addition to our cemetery!

Canadian hero,  Captain Charles Rainsford and his brother Lawrence Bradshaw Rainsford will both be honoured with special gravesite plaques from Ontario as part of the War of 1812-14 commemorations - an event (which must be advertized, is a requirement of receiving said plaques) will be scheduled for later on in the autumn - stay tuned for specifics.

Farraline Place: Items are needed for their Gala set for Oct 25:4-8 p.m. to raise funds for a new roof and to offset flood damage from 2008. Items needed for Silent auction, craft table and white elephant - please clearly label item (including value) and  bring to bin in Church or call Betty A. at 452-7037

            Sunday School Fall 2013: The SS teachers and Fr Hebb have decided to return to the previous SS time of 10 a.m. to 11:15 for weekly SS classes. Sunday School will commence with a group worship and sing-a-long followed by class. Due to a critical teacher shortage, one (1) children's class can be offered and Fr Hebb will commence  Confirmation class for those 10 yrs old. The class will run weekly from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the expectation that the youth will normally join worship at 11 a.m. Confirmation classes will run til April and resume next Sept - in 2014. A confirmation date in late autumn 2014 will be sought from the Bishop.

ACW Quiet Day Sept 4 at Camp Medley: Registration at 9 and worship at 10 a.m. Special speaker is Rev Jennifer Brown of the United Church - bring your own cold lunch!

First Fall regular Parish ACW meeting Monday Sept 9 at 7 p.m. - note change of date to 2nd week!

Student, Mr Thomas McCallum of N.S. has been visiting with the Hebb's and sharing our Parish Life. Thomas attended St Mike's Youth Conference this past week and is returning to N S this coming Wed  Aug 28th - we will miss his presence among us and look for his return another time.
